DENISE (DJ) SCHULTZ

Hello! I’m DJ Schultz, and I'm running for re-election for Hatboro-Horsham's School Board of Directors.

During our first term in office, we were confronted with unexpected challenges that required us to gain a deep understanding of issues, work as a team to find solutions, and tap into a fierce determination to make a positive difference. We faced mandatory school closings, navigated health and safety plans, instituted remote and hybrid instruction, and returned students to in-person learning.

In spite of these unexpected challenges, we never lost sight of the promises we made and the issues we anticipated. We completed the Crooked Billet building project, moved forward with the new Keith Valley building project, and worked hard to review, update, and create District policies.

Removing learning barriers and addressing equity was a promise we made when we ran for office in 2019. As Chairperson of the Policy Committee, I’m especially proud that we passed the Educational Equity Policy. But there is more work to be done to achieve and maintain equity across our District. We must examine practices and programs at every level through an equity lens—to ensure every child has the opportunity to learn at their highest possible potential.

That is why I’m asking for your support for re-election. I will continue to insist that expectations for teaching and learning are high; never stop pursuing equity in our schools; ensure our children are safe at school; and practice transparency and fiscal responsibility at all times. I'm committed to keeping our communities strong and our childrens' future bright.

About DJ

My husband, Mayor of Hatboro, Tim Schultz, and I have lived in the Borough since 2002. We have five kids—all HHHS alumni and one adorable granddaughter. We own a small business, providing photography, graphic design, and creative direction services to our clients.

I’m an active community volunteer. From 2017 to 2019, I served as a member of the Hatboro 2040 Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee, I’m a volunteer at the Greater Hatboro Chamber of Commerce, and I’m Co-Founder and Foundation Director for H.A.T. Packs— a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. H.A.T. Packs is group of dedicated volunteers fighting local childhood food insecurity by providing “Meal Packs That Fill the Gaps”—weekend meals for local children. That is our mission. Our goal is to ensure that every child, no matter their background or family circumstance, feels seen, heard, and knows they are an important, valuable member of our community. That’s why we work with the community to provide our weekend meal program and other initiatives, including our Birthday Bag program and the H.A.T. Packs Halloween Costume Giveaway.
